Library of Things
Welcome to the Frankston City Libraries, Library of Things!
In collaboration with Waste Circularity at Frankston City Council, we're looking at solutions for our community to reduce waste, reuse common household items and live more sustainably.
Discover the Library of Things (LoT), a curated selection of unconventional resources ranging from gadgets to tools, kits, and electronics, all yours to explore for free with a library card.
To access these unique items, you'll need the following:
- A library membership, readily available by coming into the library. Or join online for a digital membership, then simply present some ID at your nearest branch to upgrade and unlock full borrowing privileges.
- Attend a once-off induction session and then you will be able to borrow from the whole Library of Things.
- Select your item from the display in the Frankston branch or our catalogue. If the item is available a staff member can assist you to borrow the item straight away.
Please note, while anyone can register for a Frankston City Libraries card, the Library of Things collection is limited to patrons 18+ only.
Once -Off Induction Sessions
Most Things can be borrowed from Frankston, Carrum Downs and Seaford branches. Renewals are possible if the item isn't in high demand, though popular picks may have reserves! Just like books, Things can be borrowed for a three week loan period.
When it's time to return your Thing, ensure all components are securely packed in the provided bags or tubs and drop them off during operating hours. Please note, Things cannot be returned via overnight or external chutes for safety reasons.
