Let's keep reading!

The BIG Summer Read is a Victorian statewide summer reading campaign for children and young people. It is a collaborative Public Libraries Victoria initiative, developed to raise awareness and ensure ALL Victorian children have access to the resources they need to maintain literacy skills over the summer school holidays.

The BIG Summer Read is open to anyone ages 0-18. It aims to encourage children to read for pleasure and addresses the issue of the 'summer slide'. This refers to the loss of literacy experienced over the long summer break if children are not exposed to books or reading.

Register now using the Beanstack app or drop into a branch and collect a reading log! Don't forget to select Frankston City Libraries as your primary library service so we can include you in our prize draw.

Once you log 10 books either on the Beanstack app or in your physical log, you can come in to collect your Big Summer Read goodie bag.

Stay tuned for Frankston City Libraries spot prize details including movie tickets, book vouchers, swimming pool vouchers, mini golf, Frankston Arts Centre show tickets and much, much more! These prizes will be drawn periodically throughout the summer, ahead of the grand prize draw on 31 January, so there are lots of chances to win.

There is also a fun scavenger hunt happening in the library branches – kids can collect activity sheets to have a go finding the characters hidden around the library and decoding the secret word. Fun!
