Let's keep reading!

The BIG Summer Read is an annual summer reading campaign for young people aged 0-18. It is a collaborative initiative happening at all public libraries across Victoria, Tasmania, Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales. It has been developed to raise awareness and ensure ALL children have access to the resources they need to maintain literacy skills over the summer school holidays. It encourages children to read for pleasure and aims to address the 'summer slide'. This refers to the loss of literacy experienced over the long summer break if children are not exposed to books or reading.

The Challenge

Read on as many days as you can between 1st December 2025 and 31st January 2026.
Every 5 days logged counts as one entry into the prize draw.
You can read any type of book, including audiobooks, picture books, graphic novels... they all count, as does listening to a book read by someone else, and reading the same book multiple times.

The Prizes

Every entrant who completes at least 5 days of reading between these dates can return their log/display their online completion badge to receive their choice of a BSR tote bag, reusable straw or Croc Charm while stocks last, and a completion certificate, and go into the major prize draw to win:
Frankston City Libraries: 1st prize - Nintendo Switch 2 Pack, 2nd prize - Frankston Arts Centre Family Show Pass, 3rd prize - QBD Book Pack
• They will automatically be entered into the statewide and national prize draws to win Bluetooth headphones, a Kobo eReader, Zoos Victoria memberships and book packs.
