From mid-February, Victorians who were enrolled to vote, but appear not to have voted in the 2024 local council elections will receive an ‘Apparent failure to vote’ notice.

The notice is not a fine, but a chance to explain why it looks like they didn’t vote. Those who don’t respond within 28 days or fail to provide a valid excuse may be fined $99.

Drop in to speak with a VEC democracy ambassador at Frankston Library.

A democracy ambassador from the Victorian Electoral Commission’s (VEC) electoral outreach team can provide you with information about what to do if you receive an ‘Apparent failure to vote notice’.
