Join Us This Plastic Free July at the Library!
This July, our library branches are proud to join the global movement Plastic Free July®, a campaign that empowers millions around the world to reduce plastic pollution for cleaner streets, oceans, and communities. Will you be part of the solution by choosing to refuse single-use plastics?
To support our community in taking steps toward a more sustainable lifestyle, we’ve teamed up with Waste Circularity in hosting a range of exciting and practical events throughout the month. There’s something for everyone-whether you’re looking to refill your household essentials, get creative with eco-friendly crafts, or dive deeper into sustainable living practices.
Roving Refills Pop-Up Stalls
Bring your clean, empty containers and stock up on home cleaning and bathroom essentials-minus the plastic waste! Our Roving Refills pop-up stalls will visit each library branch throughout the month. Choose from items like eco-friendly shampoo, soap, and surface cleaners, all available to refill into your own containers.
This is a great way to reduce packaging waste and discover local low-waste alternatives.
Make Your Own Beeswax Wraps
Ditch the cling wrap! Join one of our Beeswax Wrap Making Workshops and learn how to create your own reusable wraps-perfect for keeping food fresh without plastic. These hands-on sessions are fun, educational, and suitable for beginners.
All materials are provided, and you’ll go home with your own handmade wraps.
Everyday Permaculture with Anna the Urban Nanna
We’re thrilled to welcome back Anna Matilda, also known as The Urban Nanna, for an inspiring author talk on her new book:
Everyday Permaculture: Sustainable Living for Every Space
Anna is a sustainability educator who brings permaculture to everyday life in practical, accessible ways. In this session, she’ll share simple strategies to live more sustainably-whether you have a garden, balcony, or just a windowsill.
Discover how permaculture can create lasting change by connecting communities, caring for the earth, and living in harmony with nature.
And just for kids...
Our Plastic Free July Storytime is a fun and interactive way to foster a love of nature and the enviroment in even our youngest Frankston City residents.
It's all free and all for you this July at Frankston City Libraries! The workshops and Storytime do require bookings as spaces are limited. Roving Refills is available to utilise without a booking - just swing by at the specified times.
