Frankston City Libraries is pleased to provide a Book Club membership program for:
Our book club program offers a range of titles including fiction and non-fiction.
Existing book groups and new clubs can meet at Frankston or Carrum Downs Libraries or at a location of their choosing.
Our book club program is open to all Frankston City Libraries members in good standing. Joining the library is easy; you simply need to provide one form of ID with your current residential address.
It is recommended that book club groups be made up of a minimum of six (6) and maximum of ten (10) members. A group representative must be nominated and will be responsible for liaising with the Library and collecting and returning all books and discussion questions by the due date. The group representative is also responsible for ensuring that all book club members have paid their annual membership fee.
Individuals wishing to form or join an existing book club can register their interest either in person, by phone or by sending an email to: email@example.com. Where possible, individuals registering an expression of interest will be put in touch with existing book clubs.
For all new book clubs formed, a library facilitator will be made available for the first two book club meetings after which time the book club is encouraged to be self-administering.
Book kits comprise a maximum of 10 books together with discussion questions. Please ensure you return the discussion questions together with the book as these can be reused.
Book kits are issued to a group membership card. The card remains on file at the Library.
A range of titles are offered including fiction and non-fiction. Consultation with book club groups will also take place for new suggested titles when applicable.
Annual membership fees are charged at the following rates:
Concession holders must provide proof of concession. Fees can be paid by cash, cheque and/or money order. Cash payments are accepted by library staff at the desk. Cheques and money orders are to be made out to Frankston City Libraries.
Loan period for book club kits is eight (8) weeks, however, please endeavour to return your book kits as soon as possible as these may be required by other groups.
Your nominated book group representative is responsible for chasing up any late books. If you are unable to return your book by the designated date, please return directly to either Frankston or Carrum Downs Library, Seaford or Langwarrin Council Customer Service Centre.
In the event of lost or damaged books, please notify your group representative as soon as possible so appropriate arrangements can be made. Your group representative will let you know the cost of the replacing or repairing the item. For lost books, please do not buy a replacement copy as these will not be accepted by the library in lieu of payment.
Please note that late, lost or damaged books may incur penalties for your book group. Penalties may include loss of membership privileges.
