The Melbourne Writers Festival comes to Frankston once again with author and well-known comedy writer Catherine Deveny. She will be in conversation with her co-author Steve Ellen.
Catherine Deveny has been named in the Top 100 Most Influential Melburnians. She is a writer, comedian, author, social commentator and speaker well known for her work as a columnist with The Age newspaper, as a Melbourne International Comedy Festival favourite and as an ABC regular. Wedged between her busy speaking and performing schedule and running Gunnas Writing Masterclasses she’s working on her ninth book, a memoir titled Self-Saucing Pudding, as well as preparing for her fifth one woman show for the 2019 Melbourne International Comedy Festival.
Her long awaited first novel and seventh book, The Happiness Show was published in November 2012 by Black Inc Books. Her eighth book Use Your Words was released May 2016 and her ninth book, Mental, co-written with psychiatrist Dr. Steve Ellen, will be published by Black Inc Books in 2018.
Deveny’s television work includes Network Seven’s Tonight Live with Steve Vizard, Full Frontal, ABC TV’s Good News Week, BackBerner and Q and A, Network 10’s Rove Live, The Wedge and skitHOUSE and The Project. She performs regularly on radio and television and was a popular fill in broadcaster on 774 ABC Melbourne.
