Jason Ball at Midsumma Festival

Jason Ball is best known as a pioneering LGBTI advocate who after coming out in 2012 used this platform to launch a campaign to challenge homophobia in sport and drive cultural change within the AFL.

Since taking that stand, Jason has become a national figurehead on combating homophobia in sport and highlighting the damaging impact of discrimination on the mental health and wellbeing of the LGBTI community.

As an ambassador for beyondblue he has shared his story with thousands of people in schools, workplaces and sporting clubs across the country and was named 2017 Young Australian of the Year for Victoria.

Frankston City Council is proud to be part of Midsumma for the 3rd year, supporting the premier LGBTI festival with a local presence.  With a growing LGBTI community in the outer suburbs, Council recognises the importance of events that celebrate our diversity. Jason has a message for young and old, sporting clubs and anyone with an interest in social change.

Join Jason at Frankston Library on Monday 5 February at 6pm.

This event is free but bookings are essential.

Bookings open on Monday 8 January.
