Frankston City Libraries invites preschool age children (0-5 years) and their families to get involved with the Mayor’s Reading Challenge this August.

Everyone who completes the challenge of 60 books receives a free book and goes into the draw to win one of three Robinsons Bookshop vouchers.

The Mayor’s Reading Challenge is a great opportunity to read to kids and collect some pretty cool prizes along the way. It makes reading a fun experience. You can include books, magazines, rhymes and songs into your child’s reading record.

You can make reading interesting by not only reading children’s books but sharing what you enjoy. You could read snippets of your favourite magazine or newspaper out loud, point out road signs or sing nursery rhymes with them.

The stories read during our Storytime Live sessions on the Frankston City Libraries Facebook page each Tuesday and Thursday morning at 11am also count towards your tally!

As a Frankston City Libraries member, you have free access to the great children’s digital library via our Tumble Books, Story Box Library, BorrowBox and CloudLibrary resources. If you’re not a member, it’s easy to join online.

This year’s Mayor’s Reading Challenge launch will take place during our Storytime Live on Thursday 30 July at 11am on Facebook where Frankston City Mayor, Sandra Mayer will read a story.

The Mayor’s Reading Challenge runs through August. Once you’ve completed the challenge and our branches re-open, you’ll be able to collect a reading rewards pack for your child, including a certificate signed by the Mayor.
